Goodbye 2013

Goodbye 2013! It’s almost 2014 and we’re still alive. The world didn’t end in 2012, you guys! Now, that came a year too late, innit? Anyway, happy 2014!

2013 didn’t change my life. Like all years, there was good and bad – big decisions, heart break, friends lost and gained. The drama of life! I shall spare you the details and show you my year in fashion instead, this being a fashion blog.

So these were some of my outfits in 2013. Which one’s your favourite?

Leather, Oxblood & Ruby Lips

It’s almost 2014 and I am still writing 2012 instead of 2013. Do the days really have 24 hours? How can 2014 be here when I’m not used to writing 2013 yet? 2013 passed in a jiffy. I kind of say that every year, but it’s scary how time flew past this year. Now let me be cheesy and go ahead and say it: ‘Time waits for none.’ Hahah!
Have a good 2014 guys and a Merry Christmas! Don’t forget the Christmas cake and think of me while eating it. Another year of hopes and dreams.  Another year of happiness and sadness. Another year of mistakes made and lessons learnt. Another chance to start over. Another year to just be!

Hello, hello, after what seems like ages!
I usually find no time to blog with college and assignments, but now that I have exams coming up, I will find time for everything under the sun. This blog is so dear to me, it does not even come under the ‘everything under the sun’ category so here I am reminding you that I exist before I allot time for ‘everything under the sun’.
I’ve had no time or energy for outfit posts so I’m sharing a few ootds from Instagram.
I love how this outfit came together *must do a proper post on this*
Of tribal prints and fringes!
Grey is such a blah colour. Throw in some neon accessories to un-blah the outfit. *un-blah, really? I totally made that up*
The joy of getting out of heels after a long, long night of dancing and drinks.
The easiest DIY!
Leaving you with this beautiful quote!

Fall is here

Hello there,

How would you like the blog to turn into a Carrie Bradshaw-ish Sex and the City column?

Ha! I’m only joking. Though yesterday I was seriously considering the idea. Too much time spent on Sex and the City does that to you. But for now, I’m content playing Agony Aunt to half the world.

Moving on from Carrie Bradshaw, FALL IS HERE. Now if you consider the weather, we, in Chennai, have nothing to be happy about. We have one season all year round-SUMMER. But I can always rejoice the change of fashion. New season, new trends. Sometimes it makes me happy that fashion is so short-lived. After all, change is life and in fashion.

What are your favourite fall trends? I’m so in love with navy blue and emerald green for the season. Also, leather. I just ordered me a leather skirt. Can’t wait to wear it. That’s the worst part of online shopping: the wait.

And did you see all the pretty statement coats on the runway? How I wish I could wear them! Then I remind myself that I live in Chennai. It’s difficult to layer even with a shirt here, a coat is unthinkable!
Welcoming fall, at least in fashion, with this green maxi skirt and grey tee.

Of Birthdays and Newness

Birthdays have lost its charm. This is either an aged me talking or a grown up me. I’d go with the grown up one! As a kid, birthdays were THE DAY for me. I counted months and days till my next birthday. The presents, cake and dress were all so exciting! Birthday dress shopping was a ritual. I didn’t buy a new dress for the birthday this time. Like always, I did go dress shopping, but only to decide I didn’t need a new one. Birthdays are just days in which you cut cakes now. And that is a MUST!
Also, I hope you noticed some newness on the blog this time. We’re a dot com finally! I couldn’t be happier to get rid of that embarrassing url. Tell me you don’t remember what is was? Impulsive decisions can be the worst thing ever sometimes and sometimes they can be just what you needed. Like the haircut!
Coming to the outfit, layering can be such a saviour! I threw in a denim shirt over the dress to avoid being ogled at. Honestly, I don’t know if it helps. But you DO NOT go out on slingy clothes in Chennai. Sigh!

I had to share these. They were hilarious! Pictures from

Madras Diaries: The Shift

I’ve been in Chennai for almost two months. Time does fly, doesn’t it? It isn’t that bad a city if you ask me. Well yes, the weather! There isn’t a minute when it’s not hot here and the food! I’m not too fond of South Indian food *you can go ahead and call me crazy*. The city’s also given me more reasons to love it..the Zara store has finally opened here and Mango will open soon. Yay! They have some amazing Ladies Nights too at the clubs here *unlike Calcutta*.

AND THE CITY HAS BEACHES! That really is the best part! But these pictures are from Mahabalipuram, which is a 45-minute drive from here. And you cannot not wear a maxi to the beach!
I do miss Calcutta so much. I miss familiarity. I miss the familiar faces. The friends I have known forever. The ‘this is my city’ feeling. The yellow taxis. The dirty streets, actually not really. The proximity to family. The shopping. I miss my old boring life. But I don’t want it back. It’s not necessary to want back everything you miss, right?
Being back in college feels strange. But it’s sinking in gradually! And boy, is it not hectic? The word assignments makes me want to strangle myself to death. But I’m where I wanted to be. I have assignments that involve clothes and malls and fashion. Hectic as it is, I am glad I decided to leave my job and study further. Now let’s hope something good comes of it, eh?
